The New Orleans Pelicans filled their final two training-camp spots by signing guard D.J. Carton and forward Trhae Mitchell to Exhibit 10 contracts on Oct. 8, according to a social-media post from Spotrac contributor Keith Smith.

Carton, 24, spent July with Portland’s Summer League squad after opening last season on a two-way deal with Toronto. The 6-3 guard saw action in eight NBA games across parts of two seasons with the Raptors, totaling 14 points, eight rebounds, six assists and three steals in 69 minutes while shooting .267/.143/.833. He also averaged 13.5 points and 5.0 assists over 22 G League contests with Raptors 905 and the San Diego Clippers last year.

Mitchell, 27, was invited to New Orleans’ camp a year ago and played 50 games for the Pelicans’ G League affiliate, the Birmingham Squadron, after being waived. The 6-6 forward posted averages of 7.6 points, 3.0 rebounds and 1.3 assists in 27.8 minutes for the Squadron.

Both players are expected to be waived before opening night and rejoin Birmingham. By spending at least 60 days with the Squadron, each would qualify for a bonus of up to $85,300 under Exhibit 10 provisions.
