The Detroit Pistons have brought in forward Feron Hunt on a training-camp contract, filling the team’s open preseason roster spot, according to Spotrac contributor Keith Smith.

Hunt, 26, appeared in two games for the New York Knicks during the 2021-22 season after finishing his collegiate career at SMU. Since then, the 6-foot-8 wing has spent most of his professional tenure in the NBA G League, along with a brief stop in Montenegro.

Last year with the Cleveland Charge, Hunt played 32 regular-season contests and averaged 18.6 points, 9.6 rebounds, 2.5 assists and 1.4 blocks in 35.2 minutes. Including Showcase Cup and postseason action, he logged 48 total games for the Charge and posted overall averages of 15.9 points, 7.8 rebounds, 2.1 assists and 1.1 blocks.

In September, Hunt suited up for the G League Ignite during the FIBA Intercontinental Cup.

The Pistons are expected to waive Hunt before opening night so he can join their G League affiliate, the Motor City Cruise. If his deal is an Exhibit 10 contract, he would be eligible for a bonus of up to $85,300 by staying with the Cruise for at least 60 days.
