Forward Nikola Jovic and the Miami Heat have finalized a four-year, $62.4 million rookie contract extension, agents Jeff Schwartz, Sean Kennedy and Jared Mucha of Excel Sports Management told ESPN’s Shams Charania on Wednesday night.
The agreement is fully guaranteed and locks in the 22-year-old through the 2029-30 season.
Selected with the No. 27 pick in the 2022 NBA draft, Jovic has appeared in 107 of a possible 246 regular-season games for Miami. He set career highs last season with 10.7 points per game but was limited to 46 contests after breaking a bone in his right hand on Feb. 23.
Jovic returned for the postseason and played in all four games of the Heat’s first-round loss to the Cleveland Cavaliers, averaging 9.5 points in 18.5 minutes. His playoff run included a 24-point performance in Game 4, his highest output of the year.
The Serbian forward made his NBA debut at 19 years, 139 days, making him the second-youngest player in franchise history behind Dorell Wright, who debuted in 2005.
