Golden State Warriors head coach Steve Kerr said he will not address a new contract until the conclusion of the 2024-25 NBA season.

“I don’t anticipate any negotiation during the season,” Kerr told reporters, according to ESPN’s Anthony Slater. “Who knows—maybe it all comes up at some point, and they come to me. But I’m not the slightest bit concerned about it.”

Kerr, 58, is preparing for his 12th year on the Warriors’ sideline and is in the second season of a two-year, $35 million extension signed during the 2023-24 campaign. He emphasized that waiting benefits both sides. “I think it makes perfect sense for all of us to wait,” he said. “It makes sense for the organization and for me to see where this thing is at the end of the year—where they are and where I am.”

Kerr added that he remains energized by the job. “I love what I’m doing every day. I can’t wait to get to the building. Hopefully, I’m here for another few years,” he noted.

The team’s veteran core—Stephen Curry, Jimmy Butler and Draymond Green—also has two years left on current deals. Kerr said he is “aligned” with general manager Mike Dunleavy and owner Joe Lacob and is comfortable entering the season without an extension. “There’s no reason for discussion or concern,” he said. “Let’s just see how it is at the end of the year.”

The coach’s timeline has long been viewed around the league as potentially mirroring Curry’s contract, which also runs through the next two seasons. For now, both Kerr and the organization plan to keep their attention on the upcoming campaign.
