Luka Dončić is no longer dwelling on last season’s blockbuster deal that sent him from the Dallas Mavericks to the Los Angeles Lakers, according to his manager, Lara Beth Seager.

Speaking with Dan Woike of The Athletic, Seager said the five-time All-Star has “moved on” from the trade and is fully invested in winning with Los Angeles. Dončić had hoped to spend his entire career in Dallas and was initially “devastated” by the move, Seager acknowledged, but she noted his focus quickly shifted to helping the Lakers contend for championships.

“When Luka was traded here, it was, ‘He’s here now. He wants to win where he is,’” Seager said. “His mindset is to build where he is and to work together. As long as he’s signed with a team, it’s a marriage—you’re loyal through the hard times and the good times.”

The 26-year-old guard reinforced that commitment on August 2 by agreeing to a three-year, $165 million extension that runs through the 2027-28 season. He is expected to decline his 2028-29 player option and then negotiate a five-year contract worth more than $400 million, which would include a no-trade clause.

Seager added that Dončić is intent on helping the Lakers attract elite talent. “He wants to get the best players here. He wants to win, and he knows it starts with him,” she said.

After joining Los Angeles in February, Dončić appeared in 28 regular-season games, averaging 28.2 points, 8.1 rebounds and 7.5 assists. He raised those numbers to 30.2 points, 7.0 rebounds and 5.8 assists in the Lakers’ first-round playoff series, a six-game defeat to the Minnesota Timberwolves.

Entering the 2025-26 campaign, the future Hall of Famer owns career marks of 28.6 points, 8.6 rebounds and 8.2 assists with Dallas and Los Angeles. His scoring average ranks third all-time behind Michael Jordan (30.12) and Wilt Chamberlain (30.07).
