LeBron James acknowledged on Sept. 30 that the unresolved status of his contract with the Los Angeles Lakers is casting a shadow as the team prepares for the upcoming NBA season.
Speaking publicly ahead of opening night, the four-time league MVP said the lack of clarity about his future in Los Angeles is something he and the organization “have to navigate” while focusing on basketball.
James did not outline a timetable for a resolution but emphasized his intention to stay prepared and keep team preparations on track as training ramps up.
The 2025-26 campaign is scheduled to begin later this month, and the Lakers have not announced any changes to the 40-year-old forward’s existing deal.
