The Los Angeles Lakers on Thursday announced a multi-year agreement naming Goldin Auctions, an eBay subsidiary, as the franchise’s official auction house sponsor.
The partnership opens the team’s vault to fans worldwide, offering items such as game-worn jerseys, game balls, nets and other historic memorabilia.
“Our new partnership with Goldin will give passionate fans a premier destination to discover and collect authentic Lakers memorabilia,” said Lon Rosen, the Lakers’ president of business operations. “Fans and collectors will have opportunities to engage with exclusive Lakers collectible items available nowhere else.”
Goldin Auctions plans to host several interactive eBay Live streaming events featuring pieces pulled from the Lakers’ extensive archive. Bidders will be able to participate in live auctions and purchase items through premium sales formats.
“We’re excited to bring exclusive Los Angeles Lakers pieces to Goldin, showcasing the powerful role collectibles play in bringing communities closer to the history-making moments and athletes they love,” said Ken Goldin, the company’s founder and chief executive officer.
Ashish Chhabra, vice president and general manager of eBay Live, called the Lakers “one of the most iconic franchises in sports,” adding that the platform will offer fans a chance to discover “unforgettable moments and grails that bring them closer to the game.”
