Former NBA marksman and current SiriusXM NBA Radio analyst Eddie Johnson believes LeBron James has already chosen where he will sign for the 2026-27 season, even though the four-time MVP has not revealed his plans publicly.
“I think the team already knows,” Johnson told co-host Mark Termine during their program, suggesting James is holding back the announcement to give his future club a competitive advantage in offseason maneuvering.
Johnson’s view conflicts with other reports. Joe Vardon of The Athletic cited a source close to James who said, “I’m not even sure LeBron knows where he’ll sign.”
James entered free agency nearly a month ago. The Cleveland Cavaliers, Miami Heat, Philadelphia 76ers and others have been linked to the 41-year-old forward. The Golden State Warriors also explored the possibility, though ESPN’s Anthony Slater reported the team is pessimistic about landing him.
Speculation intensified after SiriusXM NBA Radio posted Johnson’s comments on social media on July 23, 2026, but neither James nor his representatives have addressed the broadcaster’s theory.
For now, the NBA waits for an official word—whether it confirms Johnson’s assertion or reveals James is still weighing his options.
