Golden State Warriors forward Jonathan Kuminga was absent from a voluntary team minicamp in San Diego this week, underscoring an ongoing contract dispute with the franchise.

ESPN’s Shams Charania reported on “NBA Today” that the restricted free agent did not travel to the gathering, which featured Stephen Curry, Draymond Green and Jimmy Butler.

Kuminga’s representatives, led by agent Aaron Turner, are seeking a player option in a new deal. The Warriors have reportedly offered two structures—three years for $75 million or two years for $45 million—both containing team options.

The standoff faces an October 1 deadline. If no agreement is reached, Kuminga could:

  • Accept a $7.9 million qualifying offer, gaining a no-trade clause and becoming an unrestricted free agent in 2026;
  • Negotiate a new contract that includes the player option he wants; or
  • Pursue a sign-and-trade arrangement.

League reports indicate Golden State’s other roster moves are on hold until Kuminga’s situation is settled. Marc Stein has noted the Warriors are expected to add Al Horford, DeAnthony Melton, Gary Payton II and Seth Curry once the forward’s status is resolved.

The minicamp absence signals the impasse remains unresolved as the preseason approaches.
