Dodgers Set Lakers Night for Sept. 3 Home Game

The Los Angeles Dodgers will stage their annual Lakers Night at Dodger Stadium on Thursday, Sept. 3, when they host the St. Louis Cardinals.

Fans who purchase the event’s special ticket package will receive an “old-school” shooting shirt that honors the 1988 and 2020 seasons, the two years in which both the Dodgers and Los Angeles Lakers captured championships.

A member of the Lakers organization is expected to throw out the ceremonial first pitch, although the clubs have not yet disclosed who will perform the honor.

The promotion underscores the long-standing connection between the city’s two flagship franchises. The Dodgers relocated to Los Angeles in 1958, while the Lakers arrived in 1960, and players from each team frequently attend one another’s games.

This year’s event comes as the Dodgers pursue a third consecutive World Series title behind stars Shohei Ohtani and Yoshinobu Yamamoto. The Lakers, meanwhile, begin a new chapter led by Luka Doncic and a revamped supporting cast. The bond between the organizations has grown even tighter since Mark Walter formally assumed ownership of the Lakers, allowing the clubs to share ideas and resources.
