Lakers Cruise Past Thunder 96-84 in Las Vegas Summer League Opener

The Los Angeles Lakers opened their 2026 Las Vegas Summer League campaign with a 96-84 victory over the Oklahoma City Thunder on Friday night at the Thomas & Mack Center.

Forward William Hickey scored the game’s first two baskets, and guard Cameron Carr added seven points and two blocks in the opening quarter as Los Angeles edged in front, 22-21. Adou Thiero’s alley-oop dunk highlighted the period.

Early in the second quarter, AK Okereke rejected Thunder lottery pick Aday Mara before finishing at the other end, while Peter Suder connected from beyond the arc to keep the Lakers in control. Thiero later ignited the crowd with two transition dunks—one a windmill—helping the club take a 53-43 halftime lead. Anton Watson contributed a pair of three-pointers before the break.

Los Angeles surged to start the third. Carr scored five straight points and Watson drilled another triple, extending the margin. Thiero and Carr then traded dunks, including an alley-oop from Chris Mañon. Thiero closed the quarter with a block and consecutive paint scores, beating the buzzer to send the Lakers into the fourth up 86-66.

Thiero dunked again early in the final frame, and the Lakers coasted the rest of the way despite a late Oklahoma City push.
