Bulked-up Egor Dëmin Signals Readiness for Next Role with Nets

Egor Dëmin has arrived at the Brooklyn Nets’ summer program carrying noticeably more muscle, a development that team observers say underscores his understanding of the next stage in his NBA career.

The 22-year-old guard, selected by Brooklyn in the first round of last year’s draft, spent the offseason on a strength-building regimen that added visible mass to his 6-foot-9 frame. His new look was on display this week during voluntary workouts at the Nets’ HSS Training Center in Brooklyn.

Coaches noted that Dëmin’s improved physique could help him withstand the physical demands of an expanded role in head coach Jacque Vaughn’s rotation next season. Last year he averaged 5.4 points and 3.1 rebounds in limited minutes.

Dëmin said the added strength would allow him to defend multiple positions and finish through contact on offense—two areas the Nets highlighted in their postseason exit interviews.

Brooklyn opens NBA Summer League play in Las Vegas on July 12, where the team expects Dëmin to headline its roster.
