EL SEGUNDO, Calif., June 26, 2026 — The Los Angeles Lakers have signed guard Cameron Carr, the 24th overall selection in the 2026 NBA Draft, to his rookie contract, the team announced Friday.
The Lakers moved up one spot on draft night, sending the No. 25 pick to the New York Knicks to secure Carr at No. 24. Contract details were not released, but rookie selections in that range customarily receive a four-year deal under the league’s rookie salary scale.
College Production
Carr, 21, spent two seasons at Tennessee before transferring to Baylor, where he averaged 18.9 points, 5.8 rebounds, 2.6 assists and 1.3 blocks as a junior. He shot 49.4 percent from the field and 37.4 percent from three-point range during the 2025-26 season.
First Impressions
Speaking at the UCLA Health Training Center in El Segundo, Carr called joining the Lakers “a blessing,” noting the franchise’s history the moment he entered the building. “As a kid you always dreamed of walking across that stage,” he said. “Now I’m in their shoes.”
The guard described learning he had been drafted by Los Angeles as “surreal,” adding that the moment fueled his motivation to work.
Next Steps
With the contract signed, Carr is expected to debut in the California Classic Summer League, which opens Friday night. He said he looks forward to absorbing knowledge from Lakers backcourt stars Luka Doncic and Austin Reaves, aiming to be “a sponge” around the veteran guards.
The Lakers did not announce any additional roster moves.
