The Brooklyn Nets have elected not to pick up their $6.25 million team option on forward Ziaire Williams, the club confirmed Monday.
The move comes despite Williams turning in a career-best season and ahead of the NBA’s deadline for teams to decide on contract options. By declining the final year of the rookie-scale deal, Brooklyn positions the 6-foot-8 wing to become an unrestricted free agent when the market opens.
The decision gives the Nets additional financial flexibility as they evaluate offseason roster changes.
