The Golden State Warriors anticipate a strong return from Jimmy Butler, the Minnesota Timberwolves have finalized a new deal with guard Jaylen Clark, and the Miami Heat have extended a two-way qualifying offer to center Vladislav Goldin while preparing to part ways with guard Trevor Keels.
Warriors
Warriors general manager Mike Dunleavy Jr. said he expects Butler, 36, to remain highly productive once he recovers from the torn ACL he sustained in January. “I do think when Jimmy returns, depending on his load that he can carry the amount of minutes, I do think he’ll be a very good player based on the way he plays,” Dunleavy told NBC Sports Bay Area. “The two best things about him are his mind and his physicality, and you don’t lose that with a hurt knee.” Before the injury, Butler averaged 20.0 points, 5.6 rebounds and 4.9 assists.
Timberwolves
Minnesota has agreed to a three-year, $10 million contract with Jaylen Clark, according to the Star Tribune. The 24-year-old appeared in 68 games last season, averaging 4.0 points and 1.8 rebounds while earning praise for his perimeter defense. With Donte DiVincenzo projected to miss most or all of next season, Clark is positioned for an expanded role as the Timberwolves integrate recent acquisitions LaMelo Ball and Josh Green.
Heat
The Heat have tendered a two-way qualifying offer to Vladislav Goldin, making the center a restricted free agent, Spotrac reported. Goldin played nine games for Miami as a rookie last year. The team is not expected to extend a two-way qualifying offer to guard Trevor Keels, who will become an unrestricted free agent, the Miami Herald noted.
