The Boston Celtics will decline their $2.6 million team option on guard Ron Harper Jr. and instead re-sign the four-year veteran to a new three-year contract worth $9 million, according to ESPN’s Shams Charania.
Harper’s projected minimum salary for 2026-27 is roughly $2.6 million, with the three-year minimum totaling a little more than $8.5 million. It remains unclear whether the new agreement sits just above the league minimum or if the reported figure has been rounded.
The Rutgers product joined Boston last September on an Exhibit 10 deal. He secured a roster spot when the Celtics upgraded him to a two-way contract before the 2025-26 season tipped off. In early April, about one week before the regular season ended, the club converted his deal to a standard two-year contract.
Further details of the new agreement have not yet been disclosed.
