July 2024 — Several high-profile names continue to circulate as potential trade pieces around the NBA, according to multiple reports.
Celtics Field Interest in Jaylen Brown
Before completing Wednesday’s deal for Hornets guard LaMelo Ball, the Minnesota Timberwolves contacted Boston about Jaylen Brown, league reporters Kevin O’Connor (Yahoo Sports) and Jon Krawczynski (The Athletic) said. Talks with the Celtics never progressed, and Minnesota ultimately prioritized Ball.
Boston continues to receive calls on the two-time All-Star, but Brett Siegel of ClutchPoints noted that Brown has not asked to be moved. Executives from the Houston Rockets and New Orleans Pelicans have reportedly checked in, and Boston is said to have interest in Pelicans wing Trey Murphy III. Skepticism remains among rival teams that the Celtics will actually part with Brown this summer.
Memphis Seeking Landing Spot for Ja Morant
Appearing on ESPN Radio, insider Brian Windhorst characterized guard Ja Morant as “flagrantly available.” Windhorst said Memphis is “highly motivated” to move the 24-year-old, but his two remaining contract years and recent injury issues have cooled bidders. “I just can’t see him playing for the Grizzlies again,” Windhorst added.
Pistons Pursue Additional Scoring, Monitor Tyler Herro
After expressing interest in Austin Reaves before he re-signed with the Lakers, the Detroit Pistons have shifted focus to Tyler Herro, according to Marc Stein (The Stein Line). Herro is headed to the Milwaukee Bucks in the blockbuster trade involving Giannis Antetokounmpo, but Milwaukee has not decided whether to keep the 24-year-old guard or flip him elsewhere. If the Bucks shop Herro, Detroit is expected to make a push.
All three situations are expected to develop as teams finalize rosters ahead of training camp.
