Los Angeles Lakers forward LeBron James publicly congratulated A’ja Wilson after the Las Vegas Aces star captured her fourth WNBA Most Valuable Player award, a league record.

Wilson was named 2025 WNBA MVP earlier this week, edging out Minnesota Lynx forward Napheesa Collier and Phoenix Mercury forward Alyssa Thomas in a close vote. Moments after the announcement, James posted an Instagram Story that read, “4 piece chicken nugget!!!! Congratulations sis!,” celebrating Wilson’s unprecedented achievement.

The 28-year-old Wilson is now the first player in WNBA history to win four MVP trophies, moving past three-time winners Sheryl Swoopes, Lisa Leslie and Lauren Jackson. Her latest honor follows a dominant regular season that helped the Aces advance to the WNBA semifinals after a win-or-go-home Game 3 victory over the Seattle Storm in the first round.

James, who begins his 23rd NBA season when the Lakers open training camp in a few weeks, has often praised Wilson on social media. Last year he saluted her when she became the WNBA’s all-time leading scorer. While acknowledging that retirement is on the horizon, the 40-year-old forward has said he intends to chase another NBA title before stepping away.
