The Los Angeles Lakers have obtained the draft rights to Cameron Carr, the 24th selection in the 2026 NBA Draft, after completing a four-team trade finalized on Tuesday night.
Under the agreement, Los Angeles sent the rights to No. 25 pick Sergio De Larrea and cash considerations to the New York Knicks. The Knicks then rerouted De Larrea to the Dallas Mavericks, who forwarded the rights to No. 30 pick Koa Peat to the Phoenix Suns. Dallas also shipped the rights to 2024 51st pick Melvin Ajinça and two future second-round selections to New York. Phoenix completed the deal by sending the 47th overall pick and two future second-rounders to the Knicks.
Carr’s College Résumé
Carr, 21, led Baylor with 18.9 points per game last season, shooting 49.4 percent from the field, 37.4 percent from three and 80.1 percent at the free-throw line. The 6-foot-7 guard also averaged 5.8 rebounds, 2.6 assists and 1.3 blocks in 34 starts, earning All-Big 12 Third Team recognition. His 642 total points rank fifth on Baylor’s single-season list, and his 45 blocks placed him inside the conference’s top 10.
The Minnesota native began his collegiate career with two seasons at the University of Tennessee before transferring to Baylor. He is set to wear No. 43 for the Lakers, the same jersey number he sported with the Bears.
Salary-Cap Impact
Because Los Angeles included cash in the trade, the club is now hard-capped at the NBA’s second salary-cap apron under the current collective bargaining agreement. The Lakers remain well below that threshold, leaving their offseason spending plans unchanged.
The Lakers did not make general manager Rob Pelinka available to local reporters after the first round while the league finalized the transaction.
