Boston, MA — ESPN’s Brian Windhorst said Tuesday on “Get Up” that rival clubs are preparing for what he called “a bidding war” if the Boston Celtics decide to move All-Star guard Jaylen Brown.

The report surfaced days after Boston’s unsuccessful attempt to acquire Giannis Antetokounmpo, who was ultimately traded to Miami for a package of young players and draft picks. With Antetokounmpo off the board, league executives are monitoring whether the Celtics will keep their core of Brown and Jayson Tatum intact or explore alternatives.

Brown, 27, is coming off a career-best campaign in which he averaged 28.7 points and earned All-NBA Second Team recognition while helping Boston remain near the top of the Eastern Conference during Tatum’s extended injury absence. The Houston Rockets, Atlanta Hawks and Portland Trail Blazers have been mentioned as possible landing spots should Boston solicit offers.

Pistons Eye Norman Powell

The Detroit Pistons continue to search for a proven scorer to pair with Cade Cunningham and are expected to express interest in Norman Powell, according to reporting from Marc Stein and Jake Fischer. Powell, an All-Star last season, averaged 21.7 points while shooting 47 percent from the field and 38 percent from three-point range.

Detroit’s wish list has also included Coby White, Isaiah Joe, Trey Murphy III, Kyrie Irving and Austin Reaves. Powell’s future hinges on whether Miami can retain him after acquiring Antetokounmpo.

Hawks Field Calls for Draft Picks

Brett Siegel of ClutchPoints reported that the Atlanta Hawks are listening to proposals involving the No. 8 and No. 23 selections in this year’s draft. Although the eighth pick is still expected to remain in Atlanta, multiple teams—including the Oklahoma City Thunder before finalizing their Aaron Wiggins trade with the Hawks—have inquired about its availability.
