The Los Angeles Lakers’ front-office overhaul is earning early positive reviews, with recently hired assistant general manager of strategy and data systems Rohan Ramadas said to be “impressive” during the team’s draft meetings, according to Dan Woike of The Athletic.
Ramadas, whose responsibilities center on analytics and long-range strategy, joined the organization this offseason as part of several moves made under new owner Mark Walter. The 36-year-old executive spent nine seasons with the New Orleans Pelicans and served as a draft analyst for the Miami Heat in 2017, giving him extensive experience in talent evaluation from a data-driven perspective.
The Lakers hold the 25th overall pick in the 2026 NBA Draft and are widely believed to be targeting a center, with a high-motor profile considered a priority. Although Los Angeles does not currently possess a second-round selection, the club could seek to acquire one if a preferred prospect slips, and its recent track record with undrafted contributors remains a fallback option.
While the analytics post is filled, the Lakers have not yet finalized the hire of a second assistant general manager who will oversee scouting and player development, a vacancy that has surprised some league observers.
This offseason is viewed internally as pivotal to constructing a stronger roster around Luka Doncic. Armed with significant salary-cap flexibility, the Lakers intend to explore multiple pathways to return to championship contention, relying on a fully synchronized front office that now includes Ramadas’ analytical influence.
