The Cleveland Cavaliers are expected to survey the offseason trade market, and a new report names some of the most prominent players who could draw the team’s interest. According to Nick Pedone of Cavs on SI, president of basketball operations Koby Altman is weighing options that range from blockbuster pursuits to more attainable upgrades.

Superstar Possibilities

Pedone places Milwaukee Bucks forward Giannis Antetokounmpo at the top of Cleveland’s speculative board. While multiple outlets have indicated the Cavaliers are hesitant to move rising star Evan Mobley, adding the two-time MVP would immediately shift the franchise into a “win bigger now” stance.

LeBron James is also mentioned. A potential third stint in Cleveland continues to circulate around the league as the Los Angeles Lakers veteran approaches free agency. Pedone writes that pairing James with Donovan Mitchell—and potentially James Harden—would give the roster another seasoned postseason leader.

More Realistic Targets

On a less dramatic front, Trey Murphy III of the New Orleans Pelicans is identified as a wing who could supply the size and versatility the Cavaliers have long sought on the perimeter. Murphy has appeared in multiple trade rumors out of New Orleans and is viewed as a seamless fit next to Cleveland’s star backcourt.

Bucks forward Bobby Portis rounds out the list. His toughness, three-point range and ability to back up Mobley and Jarrett Allen could bolster the Cavaliers’ frontcourt depth.

Outlook

Cleveland has repeatedly stated a desire to keep its core intact after reaching the Eastern Conference finals before being swept by the New York Knicks, yet Pedone notes that Altman is expected to explore every avenue to push the club closer to a championship.
