The Cleveland Cavaliers will mark 10 years since their 2016 NBA title with a free outdoor celebration on June 19.
The event is scheduled from noon to 3 p.m. at Meet Me Here Plaza, outside Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse at the corner of East 4th Street and Huron Road. According to the team, the gathering will feature food trucks, a beer garden, interactive games, championship merchandise and a commercial-free replay of Game 7 of the 2016 NBA Finals.
Cleveland’s 2016 championship remains one of the league’s most memorable moments. Led by LeBron James, the Cavaliers became the first—and still only—team to overturn a 3-1 deficit in the Finals, defeating the 73-win Golden State Warriors and ending the city’s 52-year wait for a major professional sports title.
On a recent episode of his “Mind the Game” podcast, James recalled telling teammates after falling behind 3-1, “We’re gonna win Game 5. If we get back to Cleveland for a Game 6, there will be a Game 7.” His prediction proved accurate, and fans will have a chance to relive that comeback during the anniversary replay.
The Cavaliers said the celebration is open to the public and will adopt a block-party atmosphere, allowing supporters to revisit the championship run that reshaped both the franchise and the city.
