A new hypothetical sign-and-trade outlined by Bleacher Report columnist Eric Pincus would reunite LeBron James with the Cleveland Cavaliers and place his son, Bronny James, on the same roster, according to coverage summarized by Cavs Roundtable.
Under the concept, Cleveland would acquire LeBron James, Bronny James, center Deandre Ayton, forwards Jake LaRavia and Dalton Knecht, plus a $28 million trade exception.
The Los Angeles Lakers would receive center Jarrett Allen, guard Dennis Schröder, forward Dean Wade and guard Sam Merrill.
Significant cap hurdles
Pincus noted that the move could not be completed until after the NBA’s annual moratorium and would demand extensive salary-cap maneuvering. Cleveland would have to trim payroll to stay below apron restrictions while filling out the rest of its roster.
Potential roster fit
If executed, the trade would join LeBron and Bronny with a Cavaliers core featuring Donovan Mitchell, James Harden and Evan Mobley. Allen, meanwhile, would head to Los Angeles to line up alongside Luka Doncic and Austin Reaves.
Only an analyst’s idea—for now
The proposal is not known to be the subject of active talks between the two franchises. Nonetheless, the possibility of LeBron finishing his career in Cleveland continues to generate interest among fans and analysts alike.
The 39-year-old forward holds a player option for the 2024-25 season. Until he makes a decision, speculation about a final stint with his hometown team is expected to continue.
