Miami has moved to the foreground of the league’s trade chatter surrounding Milwaukee Bucks star Giannis Antetokounmpo, according to ESPN’s Brian Windhorst.
During an appearance Monday on Get Up, Windhorst labeled the Heat as “the team to watch” as speculation about Antetokounmpo’s future gains momentum ahead of the NBA Draft on June 23.
What Miami Could Offer
Windhorst noted that Miami possesses multiple pieces capable of anchoring a proposal, including All-Star guard Tyler Herro and the No. 13 pick in this month’s draft. Previous reporting from The Athletic indicated that center Kel’el Ware, forward Jaime Jaquez Jr. and unprotected future first-round selections could also be part of a potential package.
Contract Considerations
Antetokounmpo is signed through next season and holds a player option for 2027-28, a structure that likely requires any acquiring team to secure long-term assurances before committing major assets. The Bucks are reportedly seeking clarity on the two-time MVP’s intentions before draft night.
Other Suitors Appear Reluctant
Windhorst tempered expectations of an aggressive bid from Oklahoma City, saying the Thunder have shown little interest in breaking up core pieces Chet Holmgren and Jalen Williams. He also expressed doubt that Boston would part with Jaylen Brown in a blockbuster move.
The NBA Draft begins June 23, giving Milwaukee and interested clubs less than two weeks to determine whether a deal for Antetokounmpo is feasible.
