Boston — Uncertainty around Jaylen Brown’s long-term status continues to shadow the Celtics’ summer plans. Although Boston has not signaled any intent to trade the All-Star swingman, several outlets have revisited potential scenarios after the club’s disappointing finish.
Dallas Hoops Journal listed the Rockets, Hawks and Pelicans as franchises that could pursue Brown if the Celtics ever open trade discussions. A move to Houston would reunite him with former Boston coach Ime Udoka and, according to the report, could place him alongside Kevin Durant. Atlanta remains a logical destination because of Brown’s hometown ties, while New Orleans’ roster flexibility keeps the Pelicans in the conversation. For now, the talk is strictly speculative; Brown is under contract, and Boston publicly maintains its core remains intact.
Clippers Investigation Nearing Resolution
NBA commissioner Adam Silver said the league’s review of the Los Angeles Clippers is approaching a conclusion. The probe, launched in September, is examining whether the organization skirted salary-cap rules through a sponsorship deal connected to Kawhi Leonard.
Speaking ahead of Game 1 of the NBA Finals, Silver stressed the need for both accuracy and timeliness. “We can’t be investigating forever,” he told reporters, adding that an independent law firm is handling the case and that any penalties will hinge on confirmed evidence rather than public opinion.
Harden Likely to Remain With Cavaliers
Veteran guard James Harden is expected to decline his $42.3 million player option and negotiate a new contract with the Cavaliers, according to Bleacher Report’s Eric Pincus. Pincus projects a two-year pact worth roughly $66.6 million.
Harden joined Cleveland at the trade deadline and helped the club reach its first Eastern Conference finals since 2018. After the season, he expressed a desire to stay. “Definitely want to be here. I think we found something,” he said. League observers widely anticipate an agreement between the two sides later this offseason; only the final figures appear unsettled.
