The New York Knicks have signed 25-year-old center Trey Jemison III to a two-way contract, the team announced on Wednesday.
Jemison spent the second half of the 2024-25 season with the Los Angeles Lakers under a two-way agreement, appearing in 22 games. Undrafted in 2023, the 6-foot-11 big man has already logged NBA minutes with four franchises—the Lakers, Washington Wizards, New Orleans Pelicans and Memphis Grizzlies—across his first two professional seasons.
Through 63 career games (14 starts), Jemison owns averages of 4.2 points on 55.2 percent shooting and 3.8 rebounds. Known for physical interior play and efficient scoring around the rim, he is expected to provide end-of-the-bench depth for a Knicks squad aiming for an Eastern Conference title run.
Knicks continue to bolster the frontcourt
Jemison is the second former Laker to join New York this summer. Earlier in the week, the club reached a training-camp deal with veteran center Alex Len. With starting center Mitchell Robinson recovering from multiple injuries and Karl-Anthony Towns anchoring the front line as an offensive-minded big, the Knicks have prioritized additional size and rim protection.
Lakers move in a different direction
Los Angeles opted not to renew Jemison’s two-way slot, instead filling two of its three available two-way openings with centers Christian Koloko and Chris Manon. The organization is expected to use its final spot on a guard or wing who impresses during training camp. Len also departed after a quiet stint in L.A. at the close of last season, when he was added for depth following the Luka Doncic trade.
Doncic prepares for new season, eyes future ownership
Doncic, entering his first full year with the Lakers, spent the offseason improving conditioning and starred for Slovenia at EuroBasket 2025, guiding the team to the quarterfinals. The 26-year-old has also expressed interest in owning a sports franchise once his playing days end.
