Oklahoma City Thunder star Shai Gilgeous-Alexander said he will not be involved in the franchise’s personnel moves after the team’s season ended with a Game 7 loss to the San Antonio Spurs.
Speaking Sunday night following the 111-103 defeat in the Western Conference finals, the league’s reigning MVP was asked whether he expects to weigh in on offseason matters, including team options for Lu Dort and Isaiah Hartenstein.
“I will give zero input,” Gilgeous-Alexander responded, according to Michael Scotto of HoopsHype. “I will let Sam Presti, the greatest GM ever, do his job.”
The stance contrasts with a growing trend around the NBA in which high-profile players take active roles in front-office discussions. Gilgeous-Alexander emphasized his trust in Presti and the organization that turned Oklahoma City into a championship contender.
The Thunder entered the postseason as defending NBA champions and appeared positioned for another title run. Gilgeous-Alexander tallied 35 points and nine assists in Game 7, but San Antonio rookie Victor Wembanyama led the Spurs to the NBA Finals, ending Oklahoma City’s bid for back-to-back championships.
Despite the exit, the Thunder maintain one of the league’s deepest young rosters and hold a sizable collection of future draft picks. According to Gilgeous-Alexander, those assets — and any decisions on how to use them — will remain strictly in Presti’s hands.
