CLEVELAND — Cavaliers president of basketball operations Koby Altman said Friday that the franchise does not intend to dismantle its roster after being swept out of the Eastern Conference finals.

“We hated the way it ended,” Altman told reporters. “We were disappointed with the way it ended. I think the reason for that is we have higher expectations.”

Cleveland reached the conference finals for the first time since 2018 but fell in four games to a surging New York Knicks team. Altman emphasized that the setback has not shaken the team’s confidence in its core players.

“We believe in the players that we have in-house,” he said. “It’s been a long road to get here. It’s been five years of sustained success. We have to figure out how we break through it one more time, and that’s going to be the most difficult step.”

The executive confirmed that offseason conversations are already under way to explore potential additions and minor roster adjustments. However, he rejected any notion that the Cavaliers are preparing for a complete reset.

“This is certainly not a place where we’re like, ‘We need to blow this up and start again,’” Altman stated.

Shortly after the season ended, Cleveland brought back assistant coach Kenny Atkinson, underscoring the organization’s intent to build on its existing foundation rather than overhaul it.
