NEW YORK — Former Knicks point guard Chris Childs said current New York floor general Jalen Brunson should be awarded the same foul calls that Oklahoma City star Shai Gilgeous-Alexander receives, arguing that the two guards are being judged by different standards.

Speaking with the New York Post on May 28, 2026, Childs expressed frustration with what he views as an uneven whistle, insisting Brunson “deserves the same respect” at the free-throw line that Gilgeous-Alexander routinely gets. The retired guard did not cite specific plays but maintained that consistent officiating is essential for competitive balance.

Childs, who spent parts of four seasons with the Knicks during the late 1990s and early 2000s, added that leveling the calls would allow Brunson to maximize his impact and help New York keep pace with elite Western Conference backcourts.
