Calf Strain Keeps Ajay Mitchell Out of Western Finals Game 4

Oklahoma City guard Ajay Mitchell has been ruled out of Sunday’s Game 4 of the Western Conference finals because of a strained right calf, according to the Thunder’s official injury report.

Mitchell logged nearly 17 minutes in Friday’s Game 3 before exiting in the third quarter following a hard collision that resulted in a flagrant foul on San Antonio’s Stephon Castle. The play sparked a brief confrontation between the teams, and Mitchell limped toward the locker room afterward.

The rookie started Game 3 in place of Jalen Williams, who remains listed as questionable with left hamstring soreness. Head coach Mark Daigneault declined to offer additional details on either player after the game, saying roster updates would be limited to the nightly injury report.

Mitchell finished Friday with two points, five rebounds and one assist. He also left briefly in Game 2 after being struck in the thigh but indicated at the time he did not expect lingering issues.

If Williams is unable to return Sunday, Cason Wallace is expected to move into the starting lineup.

San Antonio has no players on its injury report for Game 4. Head coach Mitch Johnson said guards De’Aaron Fox and Dylan Harper are both set to play.
