San Antonio Spurs guard De’Aaron Fox has been ruled out of Wednesday’s Game 2 as he continues to recover from a right ankle sprain, ESPN’s Shams Charania reported.
The Spurs were already without their All-Star floor general in Sunday’s Game 1 victory over the Oklahoma City Thunder. Rookie Dylan Harper stepped into the starting role and delivered 24 points, 11 rebounds, six assists and seven steals, a historically productive outing for a player his age.
According to Justin Martinez of The Oklahoman, San Antonio will deploy the same starting lineup in Game 2 that opened the series.
The team had been optimistic Fox could return for Wednesday’s contest, but securing a road win in the opener lessened the urgency to rush him back, Rylan Stiles of Locked On Thunder noted.
Fox’s next opportunity to suit up comes in Game 3, scheduled for Friday.
