Bob Myers is expected to play a central role in the Philadelphia 76ers’ search for a new head of basketball operations, league sources told Hoops Wire.
The former Golden State Warriors executive indicated the incoming hire will receive considerable authority, yet stressed he plans to stay involved in major roster decisions. That stance has drawn attention across the NBA, according to veteran reporter Marc Stein.
Stein added that Myers could look to Atlanta Hawks general manager Onsi Saleh, a longtime colleague from their days together with the Warriors. While the connection makes sense, Saleh is widely expected to remain in Atlanta after finishing second in the league’s Executive of the Year voting. The 76ers would need the Hawks’ permission to interview him, and sources say such approval is unlikely.
With Saleh seemingly out of reach, Philadelphia’s search continues under the close watch of Myers, who is not expected to step away from day-to-day decision-making.
