Bismack Biyombo is set to rejoin the San Antonio Spurs on a one-year contract, according to ESPN’s Shams Charania. Representatives from Wasserman, the veteran center’s agency, confirmed the agreement.

The 33-year-old entered the Spurs’ starting lineup shortly after signing with the club in early March. Over 28 appearances, including 26 starts, he averaged 5.1 points and 5.6 rebounds in 18.9 minutes while converting 58.8 percent of his shots.

With Victor Wembanyama expected to return from a right-shoulder blood clot and free-agent addition Luke Kornet joining the roster, Biyombo is projected to move into a reserve role. His experience, rebounding and rim protection provide depth behind the starting frontcourt.

Entering his 15th NBA season, Biyombo was originally selected seventh overall by Charlotte in the 2011 draft and has played for seven franchises. He spent the 2023-24 campaign out of the league before signing with San Antonio last spring.

Once finalized, the contract will give the Spurs 15 standard deals. Of those, only guard Lindy Waters III lacks full protection; his one-year minimum agreement is guaranteed for $500,000 until the league-wide guarantee date of January 10.

San Antonio currently sits at the offseason maximum of 21 players, meaning a corresponding move is required before Biyombo can officially be added. The team could create space by waiving guard Isaiah Miller, who agreed to a training-camp contract over the weekend.
