CLEVELAND — James Harden moved into 10th place on the NBA’s all-time playoff scoring chart Friday night, eclipsing Stephen Curry during the opening period of the Cleveland Cavaliers’ 115-94 Game 6 loss to the Detroit Pistons.

The veteran guard hit a step-back three-pointer from the right wing with 7:40 left in the first quarter, giving him 4,148 career postseason points—one more than Curry’s 4,147. Harden finished the night with 23 points on 6-for-13 shooting.

While climbing the scoring list, Harden also committed eight turnovers, pushing his career playoff total to 650 and moving past Shaquille O’Neal (649) for third most in league history. It was his 31st postseason game with more turnovers than made field goals, tying him for the fourth-highest total since all playoff rounds adopted the best-of-seven format in 2003.

Detroit’s victory evened the Eastern Conference semifinal series at 3-3. Game 7 is scheduled for Sunday in Detroit.

Harden, the No. 3 overall pick in the 2009 draft, is in his 17th NBA season and first with Cleveland after a midseason trade that sent Darius Garland to the LA Clippers. He has appeared in the playoffs every year of his career, logging 186 postseason games—15th most in league annals.
