Los Angeles Lakers forward Adou Thiero said he is “most likely” set to play in the 2026 Summer League, marking his first appearance in the event after missing last year while recovering from left-knee surgery.
The 22-year-old underwent the operation during his final season at Arkansas and was sidelined for the 2025 Summer League. Speaking about the upcoming offseason, Thiero noted that he “didn’t get to play last year, so I would assume they’ll have me out there this summer.”
Busy summer schedule for L.A.
The Lakers are one of four teams slated for the California Classic in early July before heading to Las Vegas for the league-wide tournament that features all 30 NBA clubs. Thiero is expected to headline Los Angeles’ roster, which could also include two-way players Drew Timme and Chris Mañon, as well as the organization’s No. 25 pick in the 2026 NBA Draft if that selection is not traded.
Rookie campaign at a glance
Thiero logged limited minutes during the 2026 regular season, averaging six minutes across 25 games in a crowded rotation. Injuries to Luka Dončić and Austin Reaves opened a larger role for him in the postseason, where the Lakers were eventually swept by the Oklahoma City Thunder in the Western Conference semifinals.
Reflecting on his first year, Thiero said he learned “how a season can go up and down through injuries,” emphasizing the importance of everyone staying ready. He added that he was pleased with how the team “stayed together” despite outside doubts during the playoff run.
Known for his athleticism and perimeter defense—areas the Lakers sought to bolster—Thiero will look to showcase his development when he suits up in July.
