Kings Forward Keegan Murray Undergoes Arthroscopic Ankle Procedure
SLUG: kings-forward-keegan-murray-ankle-surgery
Sacramento Kings forward Keegan Murray had arthroscopic surgery on his left ankle Tuesday to remove loose bodies, a league source confirmed.
The minimally invasive procedure carries an estimated recovery window of six to eight weeks, positioning the 25-year-old to be available when training camp opens in late September, provided no complications arise.
Murray’s fourth NBA season was interrupted by multiple injuries. He missed the first month after left-thumb surgery, sat out two December games with a mild calf strain, and suffered a left ankle sprain that limited him to 23 appearances before an aggravation ended his year. He averaged 14.0 points, 5.7 rebounds, 1.7 assists and 1.6 blocks in 34.5 minutes, shooting 42.0% from the field and 27.7% from three-point range—both career lows.
The Kings locked up the former lottery pick last October with a five-year, $140 million rookie-scale extension that begins in July and runs through the 2030-31 season. Murray is the franchise’s only player holding guaranteed money beyond 2027-28, though prospects Nique Clifford and Dylan Cardwell have non-guaranteed deals for 2028-29.
