NEW YORK — Hall of Famer Tracy McGrady has accepted a volunteer position as strategic advisor to the Wagner College men’s basketball program, the school announced on Wednesday.
McGrady, a seven-time NBA All-Star, will guide the Seahawks on name, image and likeness opportunities, marketing strategies, player development and broader program outreach. He will not draw a salary. His son, Laymen McGrady, is set to join Wagner as a freshman this season after redshirting at Oral Roberts in 2025/26.
Teams Hesitant to Trade First-Round Picks
During this week’s draft combine in Chicago, league executives told reporter Jake Fischer (The Stein Line) they expect fewer first-round selections to be moved starting this offseason. Clubs are increasingly protective of late-lottery assets under the NBA’s revised lottery structure, which could raise the value of those picks.
Combine Standouts and Struggles
Jonathan Wasserman of Bleacher Report highlighted early winners and losers among draft-eligible prospects:
- Winners: Arkansas guard Darius Acuff, whose measurements compared favorably to Damian Lillard’s, and Houston wing Kingston Flemings, who impressed with his three-point shooting.
- Losers: Vanderbilt guard Tyler Tanner, officially listed under 5′11″, and Alabama forward Amari Allen, measuring just above 6′5″.
Rozier Salary Dispute Continues
Former Heat guard Terry Rozier and the NBA appeared before an arbitrator last month for a second hearing over the $26.6 million salary he is owed for the 2025/26 season. Rozier, who faces federal charges stemming from an arrest last fall, initially won an earlier arbitration, but the league is still seeking a reduction in pay, according to Mike Vorkunov of The Athletic.
The arbitrator has not yet issued a ruling.
