Philadelphia 76ers forward Paul George believes Luka Doncic is on track to become the best international basketball player in history. Speaking on his “Podcast P,” the veteran wing said the Los Angeles Lakers star could ultimately surpass legends such as Dirk Nowitzki, Tony Parker, Hakeem Olajuwon and Giannis Antetokounmpo.

“We’re talking about being the biggest international player now,” George said. “That’s surpassing GOATs … He’s got a chance to be one of the best to ever do it.”

EuroBasket run turned heads

George’s praise follows Doncic’s standout performance at FIBA EuroBasket 2025. After a summer-long conditioning program, the 26-year-old guard led Slovenia to the quarterfinals in Katowice, Poland, while posting tournament-leading statistics. He capped his run with 39 points, 10 rebounds and seven assists in a narrow loss to Germany on September 2.

Wagner impressed despite elimination

German forward Franz Wagner, whose team ended Slovenia’s tournament, acknowledged Doncic’s play afterward. Wagner noted that the Lakers star “was just as amazing as he has always been,” even with the noticeable body transformation that had drawn attention throughout the event.

Doncic arrived in Los Angeles last season in a mid-year trade from the Dallas Mavericks but struggled with injuries and an early playoff exit. His EuroBasket showing, combined with George’s endorsement, has quickly reignited conversation about his place among the game’s elite international talents.
