New York Knicks forward OG Anunoby will sit out Sunday’s Game 4 of the Eastern Conference semifinals in Philadelphia because of a right hamstring strain, head coach Mike Brown said Saturday.
The injury forces Anunoby, 28, to miss a second consecutive contest. He was hurt during Wednesday’s Game 2 win over the Philadelphia 76ers and had been listed as questionable before the team downgraded him to out.
Without Anunoby on Thursday, Miles McBride started and logged 21 minutes, recording three points, two assists and two blocks while shooting 1-for-6. Landry Shamet came off the bench for 26 minutes, finishing 5-for-6 from the field with 15 points and three rebounds.
The Knicks carry a 3-0 series lead into Sunday’s matchup at Wells Fargo Center. Team officials describe Anunoby’s strain as mild and continue to list him day-to-day, stressing caution to avoid aggravating the soft-tissue injury.
Anunoby has averaged 21.4 points, 7.5 rebounds, 1.9 steals and 1.1 blocks in 35.3 minutes across eight playoff games this spring, shooting 61.9 percent overall, 53.8 percent from three-point range and 81.1 percent at the foul line.
