Toronto Raptors forward Brandon Ingram recently had surgery to relieve persistent pain in his right heel, the team said Monday. The operation, performed in New York by Dr. Martin O’Malley, removed a heel spur.
The Raptors expect the 28-year-old to make a full recovery in time for the start of training camp in September.
Ingram’s heel bothered him late in the regular season, forcing him to miss three games from late March to early April. He aggravated the injury during the postseason and was sidelined for Games 6 and 7 of Toronto’s first-round series against Cleveland. After the Raptors were eliminated, head coach Darko Rajaković said Ingram would consult a specialist to determine the best treatment plan.
Despite the late-season setback, 2025-26 marked a strong comeback year for the All-Star. Limited to 18 games in 2024-25 by an ankle injury, Ingram appeared in 77 contests this season, all starts—his highest total since his 2016-17 rookie campaign. He led the Raptors with 21.5 points per game on 47.7% shooting from the field, including 38.2% from three-point range, while adding 5.6 rebounds and 3.7 assists.
TSN’s Josh Lewenberg reported that Ingram will rest and undergo light rehabilitation for several weeks before resuming full workouts. The nearly complete offseason should allow him to focus on skill development, a priority Rajaković has emphasized.
