Philadelphia 76ers veterans Paul George and Quentin Grimes seemed to engage in a heated exchange after a disputed late‐game shot during Game 2 of the team’s postseason series on Wednesday night, May 7.
Television cameras captured the two players speaking emphatically near the bench shortly after a hurried long-range attempt failed to connect in the final minute. The sequence prompted visible frustration from several teammates as the Sixers tried to close out the contest.
George, acquired last offseason to bolster the Sixers’ championship push, was seen gesturing toward the court while Grimes appeared to respond in kind. Coaches and teammates quickly stepped between the pair as play resumed.
The 76ers did not make either player available for immediate comment, and head coach Nick Nurse declined to elaborate on the incident during his post-game press conference, saying only that “emotions run high in the playoffs.”
Philadelphia now heads into Game 3 with the series tied 1-1 and renewed questions about late-game decision-making.
