Head coach Mike Brown openly questioned the officiating crew after Game 2, saying he was unclear about what constituted illegal contact as the New York Knicks once again struggled with foul trouble.
“I’m not sure what’s a bump and what isn’t,” Brown told reporters during his post-game media session, voicing frustration over several calls that sent key Knicks players to the bench early. The frequent whistles disrupted New York’s rotation and rhythm throughout the night, he added.
Brown did not cite specific plays but indicated that the physical nature of the contest should have been allowed to flow with fewer stoppages. He warned that continued inconsistency could affect the remainder of the series.
The Knicks have now faced significant foul issues in both opening games, forcing adjustments to their defensive approach and limiting aggressiveness in the paint. Brown said he planned to raise the matter with the league office before Game 3.
The series resumes later this week, with the Knicks hoping to avoid another night dominated by foul calls and with Brown looking for clearer guidelines from officials.
