The New York Knicks have ruled reserve center Mitchell Robinson out of Monday’s Game 2 against the Philadelphia 76ers because of an illness, SNY reporter Ian Begley said. Robinson had been listed as questionable earlier in the day.

The 26-year-old played only 12 minutes in Saturday’s opener, hampered by foul trouble and Philadelphia’s early decision to send him to the free-throw line, where he is a career 37.7% shooter in the postseason. He missed all four attempts, and the Sixers abandoned the tactic after halftime.

With Robinson sidelined, head coach Mike Brown is expected to lean again on second-year center Ariel Hukporti, who registered nine rebounds, two blocks and four fouls in 17 minutes in Game 1. New York hopes the loss will be softened by the continued absence of Sixers star Joel Embiid, out with ankle and hip injuries.

Brown unfazed by title expectations

Brown told the New York Post he already places championship standards on himself, matching the organization’s public mandate. “I’m disappointed if we’re not in the Finals and having a chance to win it,” he said. Players such as Josh Hart praised Brown’s steady approach and willingness to seek input from the roster.

Nurse returns after family loss

Philadelphia head coach Nick Nurse rejoined the team following the unexpected death of his older brother, Steve. “I’m here coaching and my brother would expect me to be,” Nurse said, noting his sibling’s longtime support.

Celtics weigh future with Vucevic

Eliminated by Philadelphia in the first round, the Boston Celtics enter the offseason with center Nikola Vucevic heading to unrestricted free agency as his $21.5 million contract expires. Team president Brad Stevens credited Vucevic for professionalism and locker-room impact but offered no hint about whether Boston will pursue a new deal.
