The Minnesota Timberwolves upgraded Anthony Edwards to questionable for Monday’s Game 1 against the San Antonio Spurs, the club announced. The guard sat out the final two games of the previous round versus Denver after hyperextending his left knee and had initially been labeled week-to-week.

Vice president of medical operations and performance David Hine said teammates call Edwards “Wolverine” because of his ability to recover quickly. Spurs center Victor Wembanyama told reporters he hopes Edwards can play, adding that he enjoys competing against both Edwards and the injured Donte DiVincenzo.

Other playoff injury updates

Brandon Ingram will miss Sunday’s decisive Game 7 between the Toronto Raptors and the Cleveland Cavaliers due to right heel inflammation. Head coach Darko Rajaković said the Raptors must “find our last energy tonight” while playing without two starters. Ingram has shot 32.8 percent from the field in the series.

Minnesota backup guard Ayo Dosunmu is questionable for Monday’s Game 1 after right calf soreness kept him out of the Wolves’ Game 7 win over Denver. Head coach Chris Finch said Dosunmu participated in nearly every aspect of Sunday’s medium-intensity practice.

Joel Embiid is listed as probable for the Philadelphia 76ers’ Game 1 visit to the New York Knicks on Monday. The center is managing a right hip contusion that visibly limited him during Saturday’s Game 7 victory.
