Shams Charania told ESPN that Minnesota star Anthony Edwards will miss the opening games of the Timberwolves’ second-round series against San Antonio but could be back as early as Game 3 or 4.
Edwards hyperextended his left knee in the second quarter of Game 4 versus Denver, resulting in a bone bruise, and has also been managing patellofemoral pain syndrome in his right leg. According to the club’s vice president of medical operations and performance, David Hines, the guard’s recovery window is one to two weeks. Edwards has completed light on-court activity over the past two days. Game 3 is set for Friday, with Game 4 slated for Sunday.
Lakers Guard Still Sidelined
Charania added that Luka Doncic is considered week-to-week with a left hamstring strain as the Lakers prepare for a Western Conference semifinal against Oklahoma City. Although the four-time All-Star has increased his on-court workload, he has yet to participate in full-speed running or full-contact drills, making a near-term return unlikely.
Adelman Safe, Roster Shake-Up Possible in Denver
Confirming earlier local reporting, Charania said Nuggets head coach David Adelman will be back for a second full season. While Nikola Jokic is expected to sign a maximum-salary contract to stay in Denver, the front office is expected to entertain trade inquiries for every other player on the roster as it seeks pieces that better complement the two-time MVP.
