Houston will attempt to extend its season without star forward Kevin Durant. The Rockets confirmed Wednesday, via ESPN’s Shams Charania, that Durant will miss Game 6 of the Western Conference first-round series against the Los Angeles Lakers because of a bone bruise in his left ankle.

The injury occurred late in Game 2 on April 21, sidelining Durant for a fourth consecutive contest. Medical estimates cited by Charania indicate the ailment generally requires a minimum two-week recovery period, placing the 37-year-old slightly short of that window ahead of a possible Game 7 on Sunday in Los Angeles.

Durant had just returned for Game 2 after sitting out the opener with a bruised tendon in his right knee. He scored 23 points in 41 minutes before exiting with the ankle issue.

Despite his absence, Houston has climbed back from a 3–0 deficit to force Game 6 at Toyota Center on Friday. Tipoff is scheduled for 9:30 p.m. ET.

Durant played a pivotal role during the regular season, appearing in 78 games and logging 2,840 minutes, the second-highest total in the league. He averaged 26.0 points, 5.5 rebounds and 4.8 assists in his first year with the Rockets.
