Hawks poised to open extension talks with head coach Quin Snyder after season

The Atlanta Hawks plan to address head coach Quin Snyder’s contract status shortly after the season, according to Jake Fischer of The Stein Line. Snyder has one year left on his current agreement, and team decision-makers reportedly favor negotiating an extension to keep him in place.

Front-office support grew during Atlanta’s strong finish. The Hawks closed the campaign on a 19-5 run following the midseason trade of star guard Trae Young, a surge that reshaped internal expectations and reinforced Snyder’s position.

While the bench appears set for continuity, the organization faces a key roster decision. Veteran guard CJ McCollum is headed toward unrestricted free agency, yet both sides remain interested in hammering out a new deal this summer. Fischer first reported the potential for an extension when McCollum arrived in January, and that possibility has not changed.

For now, Atlanta’s front office is expected to prioritize keeping Snyder under contract before turning full attention to McCollum’s future.
