Golden State Warriors head coach Steve Kerr left a two-hour meeting with controlling owner Joe Lacob and general manager Mike Dunleavy on Monday without reaching a decision about his return, according to ESPN.

Both parties described the discussion as productive and agreed to reconvene next week. Kerr’s contract expired at the end of the season, leaving his status for 2026-27 in question.

People close to the 60-year-old coach say he remains conflicted about continuing in the role. Kerr is taking a previously scheduled golf trip this week before talks resume.

In a recent New Yorker interview, Kerr indicated he still enjoys coaching, while ESPN’s Brian Windhorst reported that a new agreement could require staff and strategic changes and a reduced salary. The Warriors’ upcoming lottery pick may also influence his decision, ESPN added.

Within the organization, there is a shared belief that Kerr is the right fit to lead a roster centered on Stephen Curry and Draymond Green, though opinions are less certain if the club shifts toward a full rebuild. Team sources insist the matter is strictly basketball-related and say no search for a replacement has begun.
