The Chicago Bulls have expanded their search for a new head of basketball operations, moving Boston Celtics assistant general manager Dave Lewin into the round of in-person interviews, according to Jake Fischer of The Stein Line. Lewin joins previously reported finalists Matt Lloyd (Magic), Bryson Graham (Pelicans) and Dennis Lindsey (Mavericks).

A Massachusetts native, Lewin entered Boston’s front office in 2012 as a scouting coordinator. He later served as director of scouting, G League general manager and director of player personnel before being promoted to assistant GM in 2022. The Bulls are aiming to name their top executive before the NBA Draft Combine opens on May 10, Fischer reports.

Billy Donovan’s Contract Clause Explained

Fischer and Marc Stein note that Billy Donovan’s decision to leave Chicago one year after signing an extension was enabled by a 2026-27 option that let him exit at will. Sources told The Stein Line that Donovan and several staffers believed a rebuild was the franchise’s best path forward, influencing the veteran coach’s departure.

Pacers’ Offseason Checklist

Dustin Dopirak of The Indianapolis Star outlines six questions Indiana must address this summer. Topics include whom to select if the Pacers retain their top-four-protected draft pick, whether to pursue extensions for Jarace Walker and Ben Sheppard, and the futures of reserves Quenton Jackson and Kam Jones.

Atkinson Stands by Mobley After Shooting Woes

Cavaliers forward Evan Mobley hit 8-of-24 shots across Games 3 and 4 in Toronto, and Cleveland was outscored by 33 points while he was on the floor. Despite the struggles, head coach Kenny Atkinson reiterated his confidence in the 2025 Defensive Player of the Year. “Evan has been one of our best players in this series,” Atkinson said after Sunday’s loss. Mobley is the only Cavalier signed beyond three seasons, with four years and $222.7 million remaining after 2025-26.
